Covid-19 Update

01/13/2022

Leonardo Da Vinci Academy (“LDVA”) has put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and requires all individuals (including parents/guardians) to adhere to the compliance standards set out by LDVA.

Face Masking: All visitors, students, and staff entering LDVA must be wearing a form-fitting face mask. N95 Face Masks and face shields have been provided to all staff.

Proof of Vaccination: All visitors (including parents and guardians) entering our school must provide proof of double vaccination. (Students are not mandated to be vaccinated at this time)

Illness/ Exposure: Leonardo Da Vinci Academy of Arts & Sciences (“LDVA”) requires the disclosure of exposure or illness to safeguard the health and safety of all students and staff and limit the further spread of COVID-19.

Screening Confirmation: Parents are asked to screen their children and all members of the family, living under their roof, for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 before dropping off their child each day. Parents may do this online with the link provided or hand in a paper copy at arrival time.

Exposure to COVID 19: individuals exposed or identified with a positive COVID test will be advised to follow guidelines put forth by the Ministry of Education. The link will be provided

Isolation/ Absences:  Students experiencing any cold symptoms (regardless of if they have a fever or not) should not attend school and only return after they are 24 hours without symptoms.

Assemblies/Field Trips: Events usually held in-school, in which parents would be visiting the school, will not be occurring for the time being. This will also be the case for field trips.

Cohorts: Children have been placed in cohorts for instruction, lunch, and recess.

Protective shields: To further protect students, shields have been placed on their desks. In music class, there are protective shields placed between students, and protective filters have been placed at the end of wind instruments.

Ventilation: Hepa Filters have been placed in all classrooms.  In addition, NoviFresh virus protection post-filters have been installed throughout the Columbus Centre, which reduces airborne pathogens (including COVID-19) and improves air quality.

Sanitizing: Teachers and students will sanitize their desks several times during the school day. Any materials from the classrooms that are shared by students will be sanitized after each student’s use. This protocol will be followed for gym equipment as well. Enhanced cleaning of high-touch areas is carried out each evening. Students may bring in their own personal bottles of hand sanitizer, yet the school will also be providing hand sanitizer in each classroom and outside the washrooms. There are sinks, soap, and paper towels in each classroom allowing frequent hand washing.
