Leonardo da Vinci Academy and Villa Charities Inc now offer in-person Beginner and Intermediate Italian language courses for adults. Online registrations are now open!

Courses and Dates

Each course consists of twelve weekly classes of 2.5 hours each, for a total of 30 hours per course. Classes run from 6:30 to 9:00pm at the Columbus Centre, 901 Lawrence Avenue West, Toronto.

Beginner I

September 15th, 2026 – December 1st, 2026

Intermediate I

September 16th, 2026 – December 2nd, 2026

Beginner II

January 12th, 2027 – March 30th, 2027

Intermediate II

January 13th, 2027 – March 31st, 2027

Beginner III

April 20th, 2027 – July 6th, 2027

Intermediate III

April 21st, 2027 – July 7th, 2027

Course Fees and Registration

Each course session costs CAD$330 (+$60 dollars for the textbook). Payment is needed before the beginning of each session. Late registrations are not allowed.

Textbook

The Beginner course will use the book Nuovo Espresso Plus 1 (Which will be for all 3 Beginner Sessions)

The Intermediate course will use the book Nuovo Espresso Plus 2 (Which will be for all 3 Intermediate Sessions)

Classes and Refund Policy

The in-person classes have a maximum capacity of 10 student per session and one instructor.

Missed classes cannot be made-up. Students can inform their teacher of their planned absence and request any missed materials.

No credits or refunds after the second lesson.

Upon request, the office will be pleased to provide a letter of course completion, however the classes won’t issue credits, academic certifications nor diplomas.

Courses Syllabus

Each session follows a carefully designed curriculum that progressively builds language competence across grammar, vocabulary, and communication. Below is a detailed overview of the topics covered across all Beginner and Intermediate sessions.

Beginner Session I

· Numbers from 0 to 100

· The Italian alphabet and pronunciation of letters

· Articles and nouns

· Subject pronouns and interrogative adverbs

· Formal and informal register

· Present tense of regular verbs (-ARE, -ERE)

· Key irregular verbs: essere, avere, stare, fare, andare, volere, and others

· Greeting expressions

· Ordering at a restaurant

· How to ask and answer questions

· Demonstrative pronouns

Beginner Session II

· Present tense of regular verbs (-IRE)

· Telling the time; days of the week

· Leisure time activities and vocabulary
